How Many Wedding Favors To Order (And What To Order)
September 10, 2025·7 min read

Quick answer
Every couple planning a reception hits the same two questions: how many favors do we actually need, and what do we put on the table that isn't going to be left on the chairs? Koozies, candles, and little bags of almonds all end up in the same place — the venue's trash bags at midnight.

Every couple planning a reception hits the same two questions: how many favors do we actually need, and what do we put on the table that isn't going to be left on the chairs? Koozies, candles, and little bags of almonds all end up in the same place — the venue's trash bags at midnight.
This one is for the planning phase — the counting, the timeline, and the choice between something guests take home and something guests leave wearing.
The favor people keep is rarely the one in the gift bag. It's the one they pinned to their lapel on the way out.
How many wedding favors to order
Order one per adult guest plus about fifteen percent. If you are running a live photo station where guests get a keepsake of themselves, plan on 1.5 per guest, since people take one for each couple and often ask for a second.
- Small wedding (50 guests): 60 favors.
- Average wedding (120 guests): 140 favors.
- Large wedding (200 guests): 230 favors.
- Live photo station: 150–300 depending on the room.
Pre-printed favors vs. a live photo station
Pre-printed favors use one image — usually an engagement photo — with your names and date. They are simple, inexpensive, and can be ready long before the wedding week.
A live photo station prints a keepsake of each guest during the reception. It costs more and requires setup, but it doubles as entertainment and as a guest book. Couples who want both usually do pre-printed favors on the tables and the live station near the dance floor.
Take-home or wearable: magnets vs. photo buttons
Both formats print the same photograph at the same 3.5″ size; the difference is where the favor goes when the night ends. Magnets go home and land on the refrigerator, where they stay in daily view for years. Buttons leave the reception on people — pinned to a lapel, a clutch strap, or a lanyard at the after-party — and often end up on a corkboard above a desk.
Couples use the wearable version three ways: engagement-photo buttons set at each place setting, a live button station near the dance floor, or a small run of ten to twenty bridal-party pins handed out at the rehearsal dinner. Plenty of couples do both formats — a button on the way out and a magnet for the fridge.
- Choose magnets when you want the favor seen every day at home.
- Choose buttons when you want the room wearing your photo all night.
- Choose both when the budget allows — they travel in two different directions.
Designing the favor so the photo carries it
The strongest wedding favors keep the photograph as the hero: a tight crop of the couple, a clean outline ring matched to your palette, and a small ribbon of text along the bottom with your first names or the date. Crowded designs read as clutter at arm's length.
We design every proof by hand and respond within 3 business days, with up to 2 free revisions so you can tune the crop, the color, and the text before anything prints.
Timeline for the favor table
Order pre-printed favors at least six weeks out. We respond to inquiries within 3 business days with a proof, then production and shipping take 7–10 business days after approval — which leaves room for a revision without touching your wedding week.
How a 3.5-inch photo magnet becomes part of the story
Our custom photo magnets are professionally produced as 3.5-inch round keepsakes. They are big enough to actually see the faces in the picture, but small enough to belong on the refrigerator, the filing cabinet at work, or the side of a metal lamp in grandma's bedroom.
You provide the photograph. We help you make sure the resolution, the crop, and the framing honor the moment. Most people send us a phone photo or a scan of an older print, and we walk them through the rest. The keepsake itself does the work after that — quietly, every day, for years.
Moments that whisper are worth remembering. Because moments fade. Love doesn't.
