Instead of guessing what makes a good Sunnyside gift, here is the actual order book — the four things Sunnyside families ask for more than anything else, roughly in order.

Every one of them starts the same way: a photo somebody already has on their phone, and a date that mattered.

1. The first birthday

One photo of the baby, the name, the date. Ordered by the dozen so every guest at the backyard party leaves with the face they came to see.

The practical version: pick the photo where the baby is looking at the camera rather than the cake, because at 3.5 inches the eyes are what carry the whole thing. Twelve to twenty-four is the usual count for a Sunnyside backyard party — enough for the grandparents, the padrinos, and the neighbors who show up anyway.

2. The graduation

Cap-and-gown portrait, name, class year. Sunnyside grad parties run big, and a keepsake favor is cheaper per guest than almost anything else on the table.

Graduation season here is compressed — most orders land in a three-week window in late May and early June. If your party is in that stretch, get the photo to us before the ceremony rather than after; the portrait proofs are usually available from the photographer weeks ahead.

3. The anniversary nobody thought they'd see

Forty, fifty, sixty years. The couple's old wedding photo, restored enough to print, handed to every person in the hall.

These are often the hardest files we get: a curled print from the 1960s, sometimes a photo of a photo taken under a kitchen light. Shoot it flat in daylight near a window, no flash, and we can usually do the rest. If it truly will not hold up, we tell you before you pay rather than after.

4. The wedding favor

Increasingly the default in the Lower Valley — the couple's portrait as a fridge magnet instead of a candy tin nobody opens.

The reason it stuck: a favor that ends up on a refrigerator gets looked at for years, and it costs about what a chocolate favor costs. Couples usually order to guest count plus ten, because people take a second one for a relative who could not make it.

Getting an order from Sunnyside to the finish line

The Lower Valley drive is real, so we plan around it. Most Sunnyside orders go out flat-rate and arrive in a couple of days; if you would rather not ship, we arrange a meet-up when we are already headed down the valley.

Either way the sequence is the same: send the photo, approve a digital proof, then production. We respond to all inquiries within 3 business days, and once a proof is approved you should allow 7–10 business days for production and shipping. Tell us the party date up front and we will say honestly whether it fits.

How a 3.5-inch photo magnet becomes part of the story

Our custom photo magnets are professionally produced as 3.5-inch round keepsakes. They are big enough to actually see the faces in the picture, but small enough to belong on the refrigerator, the filing cabinet at work, or the side of a metal lamp in grandma's bedroom.

You provide the photograph. We help you make sure the resolution, the crop, and the framing honor the moment. Most people send us a phone photo or a scan of an older print, and we walk them through the rest. The keepsake itself does the work after that — quietly, every day, for years.
