A 3.5-inch round keepsake needs roughly 1,050 pixels across the visible face at 300 DPI. We also need a margin beyond that circle, because the image wraps slightly around the edge of the piece.

• Comfortable: 1,600–2,400 pixels, which is normal for any phone photo.
• Format: send the original JPEG, HEIC, or PNG — not a screenshot.

How to Crop for a Circle

Think of a circle inside a square, then leave room outside it.

• Leave space above the head — hair and hats are the most common casualties.
• Keep faces near the center, not near an edge.
• Group shots need faces big enough to read at 3.5 inches; a row of ten people rarely works.
• Anything important at the very edge — a hand, a signature, text — should be moved inward or left out.
